Hops from the bottom of the world, laid over the same crisp pils frame as Green Idol, our two-time Oregon Beer Awards silver medalist. Riwaka, Nelson Sauvin, and Waimea bring passionfruit, white grape, gooseberry, and tangelo, with Simcoe pine holding the line. Bright and bitter up front, bone dry at the finish. Kia ora!

THE LEGEND

Go far enough south and the sky changes on you. The North Star drops below the horizon and the Southern Cross climbs up to take its place, the same small kite of stars that sailors steered by on the way to the bottom of the world.

At the top of the South Island, around Nelson and the Motueka valley, hops have grown since the 1840s, when German and English settlers put the first bines in the ground about as far from home as a person can get. Distance and strong southern light did the rest. What came back out of those gardens tastes like nothing from the old country. Riwaka, Nelson Sauvin, Waimea. Passionfruit, white grape, gooseberry, tangelo.

We kept the frame simple and let them talk. The same crisp pils base as Green Idol, Simcoe pine to hold the line, and the southern hops laid over the top, bright up front and bone dry at the finish. Every row in that garden runs toward the same point of light. This glass is headed the same way.
