THE LEGEND

In ancient Egyptian religion, the journey after death was not a simple passage to paradise. The deceased stood before Osiris and forty-two divine judges in the Hall of Ma'at and recited the Negative Confessions, forty-two declarations of innocence. "I have not stolen." "I have not caused suffering." "I have not polluted the waters." Each confession addressed to a specific judge, each weighed against the feather of truth.

Anubis, the jackal-headed god, oversaw the weighing of the heart. If the heart balanced against the feather of Ma'at, the soul was declared worthy and passed into the Field of Reeds, the Egyptian paradise. If it was heavy with sin, the heart was devoured by Ammit, the crocodile-lion-hippopotamus demon, and the soul ceased to exist.

The forty-two sins represent the Egyptian understanding that morality is not abstract. It is a list. It is specific. You either lived rightly or you did not, and the scales do not negotiate.

42 Sins is brewed with that clarity of judgment. A Dry Hopped Pale Ale at 5.8% ABV, it carries peach, apricot, and mango through a veil of yuzu lime, dry-hopped with Alora and Rakau into golden absolution. Light, radiant, and impossibly easy to drink, as if the scales have already been weighed and you have been found worthy.
